Japanese books

A word on japanese beading books. They are numerous.Beads seem to be very popular in Japan. You can get some books on ebay (look for “japanese beading books”) but beware of shipping costs, they are sometimes as high as 20$, you can get some in bead stores but mostly at Junku a japanese bookstore in Paris. I don’t recommend these books for beginners, because you need experience with diagrams and a knowledge of bead shapes and sizes. But even then, they are great for inspiration and the diagrams are usually clear.

  • My favorite Beads Accessory Paolo Bottoni.
This japanese book (as well as the other ones by the same author) presents original and elaborate jewelry projects. These projects are woven, not strung and use a lot of crystal.

  • Beads de Beads 5
These two japanese books are actually magazines I think. I’ve never tried any of the models but I find they have a lot of inspiring projects and pictures. They are mostly woven and use a lot of crystal.
